Ugly Mirror to Pretty Mirror

Very easy, just used some good quality spray paint!

Before:

 And After:

Stove Coffee

Our power was out for five days, and I was dying for coffee, so I made it on the stove:

I boiled the water and poured it over my grounds, just like a cowboy or an Amish person.  It was delicious.

Liquor Bottle Porch Torch

  • Get your closest liquor bottle.
  • Empty it (preferably into your mouth, or use an already emptied one!)
  • Fill 3/4 with tiki torch fluid
  • Stick the wick in, and form a piece of foil around to keep it from falling in.  I've also seen people stick long pins or metal skewers through, if the mouth of the bottle is especially wide.
  • Enjoy!
  • Don't bother to add food coloring, it won't mix with the oil. Note my red and yellow drops.

Baby Food Jar Votive Holders

No need to explain, really, all I did was paint the outsides. Easy! Quick! And if you have bigger kids, a cool project for a rainy day. Some I also spray painted and attached wire so that you can hang them outside.

Baby Food Jar Candles

I have so many baby food jars, I needed some way to upcycle them. I decided to try my hand at candle making, and to be honest, it was very easy.  Granted, I started out with scented wax from an old candle that had lost it's wick, but melting regular wax would have been just as easy.
  • First I melted the wax in a double boiler.
  • While it was simmering, I tied the wicks to straws and hung them over the mouths as shown.
  • Then, wearing my protective gloves, I poured the hot wax into the jars.
  • The End.
SO EASY!
I swear it took more time to set up the wicks and clean the stupid labels off than it did to "make" the candles.  I spray painted the lids gold, which as you can see I need to find another method of doing... I looked like the tin man's cousin, gold girl. Afterward I tied a ribbon around and glued a button to the middle. Tres cutie!
